Celebrating women in transport

14th February 2013

The FTA is supporting diversity in the transport and logistics sector by becoming a key supporter of Everywoman.

The FTA Chief executive, Theo de Pencier was glad to announce,

‘ The FTA is delighted to encourage forward thinking companies that are in turn committed to encouraging diversity to the freight industry and working further with ‘everywoman’ will offer FTA opportunities to expand that work’.

Adding,

‘The key for our industry is to be able to access a wider talent pool to be able to meet its need for good quality staff in whichever role its needs to fill’.

The FTA has been involved and supported the initiatives of the Everywoman scheme since 2008 and as part of the continued collaboration it has now become title partner for the FTA everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards for 2013.

The Everywoman awards celebrate inspiring women working within the transport and logistics industry that are delivering amazing results for the industry and ultimately attracting and inspiring others to consider then sector as an ambition to work within.

The awards showcase the achievements of women who have worked hard to achieve great things in the industry, with the FTA hoping that they will uncover a wealth of inspirational role models whilst improving the image of the sector, which for many years has been seen as a male dominated industry.

OSE also fully support everywoman, last year we entered our very own Sarah Barnes who has accomplished and achieved a great deal at our company from client relationships to increasing turnover through undoubted determination.

Everywoman co founder Max Benson said,

‘Woman make up nearly half of the UK workforce and yet only 25% of employees in the industry are female. We are committed to changing the image of the industry so that talented women recognize their career ambitions can be realized in the transport and logistics industry’.
