Mercedes-Benz reveals specifications for new Citan van

11th January 2013

Mercedes-Benz has announced pricing and UK specification for its new Citan van, with the 108 CDI Compact starting the range at 13,095.

Two power outputs, a 75hp 108 CDI and 90hp 109CDI, will be available from launch using the 1.5-litre, four cylinder diesel engine, with three wheelbase lengths, Compact, Long and Extra Long, also available.

The new Mercedes-Benz Citan van is based on the Renault Kangoo and comparable Citan models are in the region of 4,000 more expensive than the French manufactured Kangoo model. However, standard options, warranty and service intervals are vastly different.

For example, all Citan models will receive daytime running lights, ESP, Bluetooth, twin sliding doors, cruise control and speed limiter as standard, with a three year unlimited mileage warranty and 24,000 miles service intervals.

In addition, the Citan has also undergone suspension and engine modifications to make the best performing 109 CDI Blue Efficiency model the greenest in its category with a 65.7mpg fuel consumption average and 112g/km CO2 emissions.

Blue efficiency models can cost up to 250 more depending on engine and body specification, with the Blue Efficiency 109 CDI Extra Long Panel Van, featuring the more powerful 90 hp engine completing the range at 15,525.

Additionally, contracts hire and contract purchase packages will also be available which will allow Citan owners to purchase a limited availability 109 CDI Compact Trade Edition for 195 per month. Mercedes summarised this 195 per month as the cost of two bacon sandwiches per day.
